The Universe

My husband and I found a new show last night called, The Universe. It is a scientific show about telling us about the universe. Last night we watched an episode about the Sun and one about Mars. They may have found tiny living particles on Mars that is the start of life. They are continuing to research to see if it was possible for life to have once been on Mars. Mars is our next choice of a planet for Humans to live on. Although the air is CO2 there and it gets as cold as -100F. While we were watching the one about the sun, it gave me more reason to believe in the Big Bang, and all the mystery of space. Our Universe became...from an explosion of a star. All the gravity pulled particles together in our solar system area and formed a gravitational pull. These particels created the Sun and all the planets in our system. The force of the pull from gravitation meshed all the particles together to make our plaents. Now there is a true explanation of "How did we get here" that makes sense to me. How does everyone else not see that. All you have to do is watch a few scientific movies and there is prove.

So many stories, so many myths....

I've been thinking about this....about what I believe to be true about....life.
I do believe the story of God creating the Earth, is just that, a story. There are so many myths, stories, beliefs, faiths that I can no longer believe that this one story about God is true. It now sounds juvenile to think that this being made a human man out of dirt and a female from his one rib bone. What does make sense is evolution. There is scientific studies to prove this process of evolution. And still to this day there are new species being formed by evolution. Here is a recent story of a finch that has evolved to a new species. http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/11/speciation-in-action/?npu=1&mbid=yhp

The universe is too large for me to believe that we are the only intelligent life form in this world. The Earth itself has been known to exist for 4 billion years, going through so many changes to evolve into what we see today. The earth has been covered in water, fire, and ice. And it is believed by some to be changing now into a tropical stage. Some see it as human pollution while others see it has a worldly change because that's what the Earth has done for years. I am sure human kind pollution plays a roll in the change, but it would happen regardless.

As for faith. I am feeling a pull towards everything being within myself. To "pray" is to ask the universe for something. Enough positive, strong thoughts about one thing can make it happen. Send out positive thoughts, receive positiveness. Being negative only brings you negativity. Happiness, courage, strength and more resides within a person. We have the power to find it and use it by means of meditation and concentration.

As for death. For a few weeks I would think to myself, "I don't know what would happen to me if I died today, but that doesn't scare me" I'm not scared of death. I have accepted it as a part of life, everyone dies. Just recently I have found what I believe is to happen to us with death. Think back to the Disney The Lion King. Mufasa tells Simba that the dead becomes everything around us. Our bodies with decompose into the ground and become soil. Our spirits will find where it belongs. As for where that is, I don't know. I do still think it is possible for there to be a place for good people and a place for bad people. And those that have unfinished business or just don't know where they go are spirits, or ghosts. I do not rule out rebirth. Rebirth is your spirit becoming another person, where reincarnation is when your spirit can become any living thing; animal or plant. I actually really like the thought of rebirth. It's a chance that you don't really know you have, but you can live it all over again and be a completely different person.

Once you've turned, there's no going back

I'm a big believer in having a faith and a belief to keep you grounded. Spirituality is important in a person's life. To have something/someone to turn to that you can always count on and to let your problems go somewhere else. I am currently in the process of finding my own belief. I have thought about attending church again for the spirit of it. I know it does a soul good. However, when I think about it, I just can't believe in a all knowing God anymore. All the bible stories just sound silly to me now and I don't see how others fall for it. I had a convo with a good friend recently about my change in belief. She said that one thing that always keeps her believing is to think about how the hell the universe came about without God. I was unsure about how I wanted to think about this. I believe that the Earth was made by a meteor shower and slowly grew into where we live today. However, the rest of the universe.....to my knowledge has and will always be. I asked my husband what he believed about how the world/universe came to be. He said....".it would be very egotistical of me to think I could understand the complexity of that. It would be like telling an ant how their world was made." It doesn't matter how it came about... it just is. The best we can do is live happily, love easily, laugh often. Be a good person with good morals and values and know that the afterlife will reflect how you live during this life.

I have come to find that I like the way Buddhist live and believe. The Buddha isn't really a statue that the people worship, he was a man who strayed from another faith and found something that he believes to be true. He preached his word and others followed. Basically, they believe in living with good values, do not obsess with material things, and they meditate to release their fears, negative thoughts and emotions. There is so much more to it, but that's a small touch on their way. I also feel the energy that surrounds me and I wish to practice and focus on that energy.

How the Earth was made.

I rented a documentry called How the Earth was Made. It was awesome! I am so glad I am opening up my mind to new information. I took a few notes during the movie, and that's what I will be adding to this post.

Earth is 4.5 BILLION years old. It actually started out as Molten rock, 8,000 degrees F. Very similar to our Sun's surface. Radioactive uranium kept the Earth extremely hot for an extremely long time. The radio active uranium decayed into lead and the Earth cooled. Within 1 billion years, the radioactivity decreased , meteorites collided wth Earth, and it became a Water World. Than, there was rain. For millions and millions of years it rained. High carbon dioxide made the air red and water was green. The temp was 200 degrees F, and the pressure of Carbon Dioxide would crush a human body.
On the Earth's surface, beneath the water, lava still leaked out of cracks leading to the center of the Earth. The mixture of hot water and lava formed Granit rocks. THe Granit cfust formed the first continients. Primitive single-cell lifeforms appeared to live in water since the first oceans. Stromatalites, rock like structures, are the evolution of the first single-cell organisms. Living microorganisms made up the stromatalites.
700 million years ago, one large contintient blocked the hot water at the equator from entering the water at the Poles. This caused the Pole waters to freeze. The ice reflected the Sun away from the Earth, and created Earth's first ice age. Than a volcanic eruption under the ice released Carbon dioxide, which formed the Green House Effect. The Ice was borken. Living organisms evolved. 600 million years ago, oxygen levels formed the Ozone Layer and life forms could leave the waters. Evolution began, Dinosaurs roamed.

We came from fish?

My husband and I started watching this documentary show called Walking with Monsters. We found it on Netflix. I believe it's from National Geographic. It told about life on Earth before the Dinosaurs roamed. 530 million years ago two planets collided and made what we know as Earth. There was no life on the land, only in water. As thousands of years pass, some fish developed complex lungs. Limps grew from what were originally fins, and soft eggs formed hard shells to survive on land. Small plants grew to trees and produces Oxygen. With no animals to eat the trees, Oxygen level was higher than it is now. Every living animal; amphibian, reptile, mammal...started as a fish in water. As the environment changed, the living species evolved to survive in it. We will be continuing to watch this show and I am going to recieve more Evolution Documentary. I can't wait to learn more.

First Glimpse of Evolution.

I watched my first film on Evolution last night. All I ever knew about evolution was hear say and pictures. I never learned for myself, the science behind it. This particular video was from the History Channel called Ape to Man. I learned the ansecteral history of today's homosepians, a.k.a Humans. I found it hard not to believe that life has evolved over the years int order to fit into their surroundings. I believe very much that man has evolved from primates. Did you know, that about 40,000 years ago there was another species that related to the appearance of today's human, but the DNA was completely different from ape and man. They call them Neanderthals. Much like homesepians, Neanderthals were hunters, and traveled in family groups. However, the homosepians had more emotion and expression. This developed the humans in more ways they thrived while thr Neanderthals began to die from lack of food. I will soon be watching ahrles Darwin videos to learn more about evolution and natural selection.

Please watch this short video that helps explain evolution in more layman terms.

Knowing who I am NOT

I was raised in a box of Christianity. God is good, God is great. Pray before every meal and before bed time. I grew up believing everything that was taught to me in the house of God and in my own home. I was sheltered from any movie with sex, swearing, and other beliefs of existance. My box was a perfect world where God took care of your needs and sometimes answered your prayers with "No." I never really experienced death or lost too closely. I wasn't taught about evolution or the big bang theory. I had heard them mentioned, but that just wasn't real when God created everything. Since moving out of my family home, and meeting my husband, along with other's who believe God is an imaginary being created to make people feel better, I am opening my eyes to new possibilities about exsitance, life, and death. As my husband as said, with all the religion's around the World, every one of these followers believe that their faith is the correct one. Budda, God, Islam, and other Eastern Religions would all tell an individual that their god or gods are truely the ones that exist. No one really knows what's real.
Life after Death. Who do we become? Where do our souls go? Even the various christian relgions have different beliefs on this subject. The souls continue to roam on Earth until judgement day. Your soul goes directly to heaven as long as you have accepted Christ as your Savior. Egyptians believe that our huamn bodies are only temporary and your real life comes after death. Other's believe in reincarnation into other beings, be it humans or animals.
I could go on and on about all the things I am unsure of at my young, but mature age of 23. All because I was not exposed to anything more than God. I am going to start my searching with how the world/universe/universes began. No longer so I believe in this higher being that created the World in 6 days. Scientifically proven, matter can not be destroyed or created. And in all actuallity, I do not know if I care to know exaclty how the Universe is here. That may ruin all the mystery and beauty of it. Follow me in my discovery of who I am and what I believe in.....in all aspects of my life.
